HeIsTheArtist EP Review: "Roots"
Shockingly cohesive cover songs highlight the new release from an exciting new voice.

Heistheartist is prepping for the release of his Roots EP, a collection of familiar covers and exciting new originals. The EP opens with an instrumental excerpt of Solange’s “Don’t Touch My Hair” before moving into Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Hisistheartist’s breathes a new life into these songs with his smooth and delicate vocals. From there he moves into a cover of “Lovin You” by Minnie Ripperton and a stunning original song called “Bright Ideas.” The EP is bookended by a beautiful cover of Tori Kelly’s “Dear No One.” Most listeners wouldn’t think to put these songs together, but taken as a whole the EP is shockingly cohesive and you find yourself forgetting some of these songs are covers. Heistheartist is an exciting new voice and one you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on.
