Looking for something a little different this Christmas? A gift that keeps on giving, to you and yours? A piece of art that is not only unique, but gives back, in a punch-your-heart kind of way? The sort of gift that won’t have you scrambling for the receipt quicker than you can say Boxing Day? Look no further, because Zoe Scott has the answer.
The songstress who gave us the Shades of Love album, with all its Bossa Nova, jazz-fused, hip-swinging, heart-swelling deliciousness, has created a truly global campaign that helps some of the worst hit by the global pandemic, professional dancers.
‘With performers worldwide on pause, the plight of dancers in a global pandemic was never far from my mind while shooting ‘Quiet Nights’, the lead single from Shades of Love. I was moved to offer gratitude and direct support to professional dancers globally.’
And what Zoe came up with was Dance The Wave of Love, which goes something like this: You choose a destination that means something to you, then Zoe and her Shades of Love crew do the rest. The dancers, the videographers, the whole production is sorted by Zoe and her international squat team and what you end up with is a beautiful video, celebrating the art of dance, to cherish forever. You can even dedicate it to someone special (hence that Christmas idea. Can you imagine the Brownie points?)
‘What started with me sponsoring dancers around the world in places dear to my heart—Rome, New York, London, Rio, and Malibu—has blossomed into the Wave of Love Challenge where you can sponsor dancers in your special places,’ Zoe explains. ‘For every sponsored dance, my Shades of Love team will put together a one-of-a-kind performance with two professional dance partners.’
It’s an ongoing musical tapestry of love and dedication and global talent, stretching all around the world and back again, and we’re totally on board.
