Randy Seedorff Starts Off 2021 With Fresh EP, "Begin Again"

Randy Seedorff "Begin Again"

Veteran Kansas City singer, songwriter, and minister Randy Seedorff has been a vibrant contributor to the KC gospel music scene, and in 2021, Randy is not being left behind. Barely three months into the year, Seedorff has already compiled and released a comprehensive eight-track EP aptly titled “Begin Again”.

The Kansas City singer and his band Soul Purpose has had quite a successful year, with covid restrictions hindering their concert performances and any prospects of an album release, except for a single, Family Tree, that the band released early this year.

Soul Purpose seems to have made a resolution to make up for their absence with a nearly complete album, Begin Again. The band has lost none of their charming panache during their involuntary break in 2020. The album bears elements of their signature sound, lively and sunny guitar rhythms with the positive lyricism that have made them a fan favorite across KC's Christian music scene since the band’s formation in 2010.

The EP begins with a track, “Dream”, an assertion against all that may try to obstruct the way to anyone achieving their dream. Seedorff and his band reiterate “Family Tree” in the EP release before launching into a refreshing track, “Never Alone”. A solemn and somber “It Takes a Whole Lotta Jesus” changes the outlook of the album, introducing a laidback self-reflective track that appreciates the help that Jesus has proffered in Randy’s life to get him to where he is. The rest of the tracks on the album, such as “My Maria” and “The Poet” follow in their trademark style, with subtle additions to the ensemble, such as a background harmony in “My Maria” that largely complements Seedorff’s admirable vocal quality.

Like all past releases from Seedorff and Soul Purpose, Begin Again is a musical masterpiece that highlights the band’s prowess in the industry and their faith-driven path. Since its inception, the band has cut a niche for itself, proving once and again that they are deserving of the title of the best Christian band in Kansas City and beyond.
