"You're Not There" Lorenzo Gabanizza Feat. Jeff Christie

“You’re Not There” is the latest single from singer-songwriter Lorenzo Gabanizza, featuring one Jeff Christie of Christie fame. It’s a good old fashioned slow rock song with country influences, and we’ll be giving it a closer look today in our review.

First thing’s first, “You’re Not There” is a song about loss, and the feeling of getting someone special in a relationship and then losing them. It’s a very human dilemma, something everyone can relate to on a deeper, personal level. When addressing issues like this, it’s important tackle them with tact, and thankfully it’s done quite well here.

The songwriting on the single is all done very well, taking special care to carefully find all the right words to describe a situation as delicate as this. The rousing, bittersweet chorus is a prime example of this, encapsulating the emotions in the song perfectly.

When it comes to established performers featuring on tracks, we’ve got a solid showing here. The stars of the show on this tune are Lorenzo and Jeff without a shadow of a doubt. Both of them give intensely emotional and passionate performances that showcase their talent and skill to the max. It’s some intense stuff, and they pull it off with aplomb.

Lorenzo’s softer, relaxed voice fits the vibe of “You’re Not There” very well. His delivery is melodic and tranquil, but also longing and pained. It’s fitting, as most of his sections are melancholic and all about remembering the good times.

Jeff’s raspier, more commanding vocal performance on the other hand plays its own part, giving the song strong buildup and many powerful moments throughout the song’s runtime. It’s gut wrenching, but also fits perfectly as sings about regret and lessons learned.

Backing them are some background female vocals that are layered in nicely to great effect. These female vocals also make up a bulk of the song’s backing track. Accompanying them are some sweet guitar riffs and a lovely brass section. The sound mixing here is all also great, with every voice and instrument working well together without being overpowering.

“You’re Not There” is a strong showing for Lorenzo Gabanizza, and both his and Jeff Christie’s performance add a great deal of emotional gravitas to the single. It’s great stuff, exactly what you’d come to expect from music industry veterans like these two.
