Single Review: Lady Redneck "The Christmas Song"

Lady Redneck embraces the contemplative kick of the season with “The Christmas Song”. She keeps things hushed, in a reverent stance. The song deserves to be played at a reasonable volume, one that allows for its lowkey demeanor to take shape. Despite the relatively laid-back presence of the arrangement, her voice conveys a deeply felt passion. Evolution of the song happens in a delicate fashion. The way she lets the small graceful flourishes gain in significance adds to the inherent beauty on display. Best of all the melodies have a degree of richness to them for they tie the entire thing together, working as a powerful counterpoint to her vocal delivery.

Right from the beginning the piece gradually comes into focus. This happens slowly as all parts of the song have this careful consideration about them. A living, breathing quality adds to the humility of the work. Her voice has a prominent focal point to it. Pacing matters a great deal for nothing on here has a hurried aspect. Instead, by letting things come into the fray the song has a graciousness to it, one that feels doubly refreshing. For the final stretch of the entire thing all that preceded it comes back around full circle, returning all the way back to where it had initially begun giving it this loveliness.

“The Christmas Song” offers a bright look at Lady Redneck’s unparalleled ability to feature an undeniable presence to her poetry.
