Taydem Shoesmith Gets Cerebral on Debut Hit "Are You Clapping?"

Ladies and gentlemen, have you heard the new single from Taydem Shoesmith? It's called "Are You Clapping?" and let me tell you, there's something special about this one. Some may argue whether it's as legendary as some of the great pop songs that came before it, but one thing is for sure - the harmony in this track is undeniable.

Starting off with a minimalist introduction, we quickly get swept away by a clubby beat. But what's really striking about Shoesmith's voice is how effortlessly she cuts through the verses. It's not often you hear such ease from a young pop singer.

As we dive deeper into "Are You Clapping?" you'll notice there isn't a lot of bass in the mix. And while that's not something I would typically go for, it adds an important moody feel to the melody. The bassline is hypnotizing and adds to the moderate physicality of the song.

The percussion doesn't have that blistering nightclub edge, but it's still enough to suggest Shoesmith can handle much bigger beats in the future. Her even delivery and verses increase the tension in the sway of the drums. It's a contradiction that works so well and makes for a truly enthralling pop track.

It's not often you see indie players adopting such a cerebral approach to grooves and harmony, but Shoesmith pulls it off with ease. Her contemporaries, especially in the mainstream market, could learn a thing or two from her composition style. She's not overthinking simple melodies, and the dreaminess in the music is the result of letting all the colors on the canvas run together.

While she may have a long way to go before reaching major label status, "Are You Clapping?" is giving Taydem Shoesmith the perfect start she needs to reach the pinnacle of pop music success. She's got all the tools she needs, and it's only a matter of time before she creates something truly flamboyant and enchanting. Don't sleep on this artist, folks.
